About Time
I
TIME
Antonia Pozzi
While you sleep
the seasons pass on the mountain.
The snow at the top gives
drooping
life in the wind
the lawn behind the house talking, drinking
light footsteps of rain on the trails. While you sleep
years of sun pass between the tops of the larches
and clouds.
II
I can gather the lilies of the valley while you sleep
because I know where they grow.
And my real home with its gates and its stones
is away, I
or more venues, but
go wandering through the woods
eternally -
while you sleep and
lilies grow unabated.
